Overview

Riad El Aaiún is an oasis of timeless elegance in the ancient Medina, steps from the Bab El Khemis flea market. Sister property to Riad and Maison Brummell, it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, culture, and community — effectively two riads in one: a classic four-room riad around a serene fountain patio, and a newly built extension with three spacious suites. Throughout, curated art, bespoke furniture, and design classics meet traditional Moroccan elements.

The Challenge

This is a property of two halves — historic riad and modern extension — with a dense layer of art and design references woven through it. The task was to capture that duality and richness without it feeling busy: to let the vintage-meets-contemporary character read clearly, and to honour both the craftsmanship and the playful, curated contrasts the owners built in.

The Approach

The film leans on the interplay of old and new — vintage furnishings against Ingo Maurer’s crinkled paper lamps, artisan tadelakt against sculptural Flos lighting, the calm fountain patio against the bright rooftop. Detail-led throughout, moving between the classic riad and the new suites, and pausing on the curated art. Grounded in its neighbourhood: local, untouched by mass tourism, authentically Marrakech.
